Työn tuloksena on testausraportti kustakin testatusta sovelluksesta. Sovellusten ominaisuudet koottiin helppolukuiseen ominaisuusluetteloon. Teoria pohjautui projektinhallintaan sen vaiheiden perusteella. Lisäksi teoriaosiossa käsiteltiin millaisia vaatimuksia web-pohjainen projektinhallintasovellus vaatii yrityksen intranetin infrastruktuurilta. Teoria on koottu projektinhallintakirjallisuudesta ja IT-kirjallisuudesta. Työssä on käytetty myös paljon internetlähteitä työn luonteen takia. Teoria muodosti pohjan testattavien sovellusten testauskriteereille ja projektin asettamille vaatimuksille. Osa tutkimuspohjasta muotoutui omien kokemuksien perusteella. Testauksessa jokaiselle sovellukselle pystytettiin testiympäristö sovelluksen vaatimusten perusteella. The objective of the thesis was to research web-based project management applications and their suitability for projects. The aim was to find features and functionalities that project management usually demands. The applications were tested in standpoint of features and usability. The results of the thesis are short written test reports of every application. Applicationfeatures were assembled in a feature list. The theory part of the thesis is mainly founded on the theory of project management. The theory section also examines what kind of specific needs a web-based application sets for company intranet infrastructure. The theoretical part of the study was compiled from project management and IT literature. Because of the nature of the thesis, it has several web-based information sources. The theory used in the thesis acts as the base for the software test criteria. The other observation method for application testing is partly reconstructed from our own experiences from software testing and building applications. In application testing the main goal was to figure out, how the application would work on project management tool and what kind of features and functionality the project demands from the application. Usability acted big role at the test process. Also application functionality in different project types was observed. The application testing was carried out by constructing a test plan and executed by following test plan contents. A list of the strengths and weaknesses of the program was built from the application testing results. The test environment was built-up individually for every tested application

Uplink DPCCH Gating of Inactive UEs in Continuous Packet Connectivity Mode for HSUPA

In order to further improve the packet performance in the UMTS FDD system, uplink DPCCH gating as a scheme is proposed in 3GPP under the work item “Continuous connectivity for packet data users”. In this paper, the uplink DPCCH gating concept is described and analyzed on both a qualitative and a quantitative level. And the system performance of different gating patterns used in the scheme was investigated by semianalytical prediction and system level simulations with different channel profiles. As will be shown, the selection of the gating pattern has a significant influence on the system performance, which is correlated with the uplink data transmission activity and the uplink power control. This contributes to a better understanding of the effects involved with uplink DPCCH gating where the biggest potential for performance optimizations can be found. In summary, the scheme of the uplink DPCCH gating is promising to improve the packet performance.peerReviewe

DPCCH Gating Gain for VoIP over HSUPA

—In this paper, the concept of DPCCH (Dedicated Physical Control Channel) gating for HSUPA (High Speed Uplink Packet Access) is analyzed. Gating technique has recently been under consideration within WCDMA to inactivate control channels during silent periods of the users, and hence, not to misuse capacity. In order to study the concept benefit, a concrete real-time service is selected in this paper: Voice over IP (VoIP) for mobile communications. It will be shown that VoIP would be highly beneficed by DPCCH gating inclusion in 3GPP specifications. Both analytical and simulation studies were run to confirm the gain expectations.peerReviewe
